Cooking!!!

Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all. - Harriet van Horne

I cook when i feel like it, when i am ecstatic, when i am tensed, when i want to eat something different, when i just wanna be away from everyone and in my own world, when i want people to taste it and say 'That was yummm', when i just wanna stir up something nice or different. I remember learning to make tea as our summer holiday homework in class 5, took meal planning in class 7 - we made salads, cakes, pasta, fruit salad, tea, and learnt how to set the table and that was the end!!!

In the last 3years, i have started getting interested in cooking again, started with kadai paneer, butter paneer, fried rice, macroni and cheese, indian style pasta(my ma loves it n so does everyone else), chocolate pudding, pancakes, uttapam, dosa (both from instant packets), apple pudding(had to learn it coz ma wasnt wid me n i loved eating it then) to almost any dish now except indian food :(

Cooking liberates me, i know it sounds funny.. but this is the way i feel! I have the freedom to choose my ingredients, my hands move to different ingredients according to how i feel and not according to the recipe, i can choose paprika over red chilli, parsley over celery, cream over milk, mozzarella over Parmesan, rock salt over iodized salt. The process of cooking from washing and cutting vegies, slicing them artistically, making sure that i have each and every ingredient i need,to having every utensil needed is in my eyesight... fascinates and holds me! When i am happy i choose all colorful ingredients, the dish always has a variety of color to it. But, when i am sad i pick pepper and lotsa pepper :D :D The dish's aroma tells me if the ingredient's proportion is correct or not, the food is good enough to be served or will i be able to part with this for others or not!

Cooking is sure an art for me which i love practicing and improving. Though, it needs few years of practice and lots of patience and a quite a few people to eat it and say... it was good!!! Well, i hope i always people who will appreciate what i cook and enjoy it too!! :)
